ISNTC 15th Anniversary - Messages from the President and Training Director

February 25, 2014 marks Intership Navigation Training Center’s (ISNTC) 15th Founding Anniversary - a milestone that was reached through our commitment to quality training and continuous development, handed down from generations to generations of ISNTC employees and the trust and support of the Hartmann Group and our other clients. On behalf of ISNTC, I wish to express our gratitude to all these people.

ISNTC was first conceptualized from a general plan to start with a cadet program in 1993. In 1999, all was formalized when the founding directors established a non-stock, non-profit educational institution with the aim to improve the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of Filipino seafarers by enhancing and supplementing the existing local and international minimum training standards, evaluating its competency to ensure personal safety, safe and better maintained ships.

As the shipping industry changes, ISNTC will continuously adapt and evolve, to face all the challenges that may be in its way while on its quest to become a globally competitive training center. The future may be uncertain but with the support and trust of our benefactors, our good relationship with our customers and our dedicated employees, the future will always look bright for ISNTC.

Engr. Giovanni Tuapin

President

This year, as ISNTC reaches its 15th Anniversary, we have decided to tone down the celebration and take time to examine how much we have grown and what still needs to be done given the current global challenges in the maritime industry.

With solid support from the Hartmann Group over the years, not only has ISNTC expanded its facilities and programs, but has assumed a role as a training provider offering quality services and innovations with the assurance of meeting the requirements of the local and international standards of competence. We have always ensured that the integrity of the training, assessment and evaluation system is preserved and continual improvement is maintained; the Instructors’ and Assessors’ performances are evaluated and monitored on a regular basis; the design and development of courses are efficiently controlled and the training activities are done under proper regulation to conform to the specified requirements.

In 2010, ISNTC transitioned into a modern medium of training when it implemented the Hartmann e-Learning platform which allowed our seafarers to study on demand as well as allowing them to stay home and study online. In 2012, we also launched the Hartmann News Worldwide to have seafarers of all nationalities serving onboard the Hartmann fleet a taste of their local news.

ISNTC has always been in the forefront of adopting new, modern educational tools to achieve its goal of producing competent seafarers. Parallel to this, new technologies are being tested and implemented onboard Hartmann vessels in order to prepare our seafarers to use and master these technologies on board.

ISNTC will continuously strive to adapt to its ever-growing and changing industry while staying true to its mantra, “Training for Competence and Professionalism”.

May God continue to shower us his abundant blessings!

Capt. Robert De Jose

Training Director
