ISNTC Reviews QMS to Comply with ISO9001:2008 Requirements
ISNTC has been operating according to ISO9001:2000 International Standards since it earned renewal accreditation by Germanischer Lloyd (GL) on December 30, 2008.
The organization’s QMS documentation has undergone process reviews, revisions &
additions to correct not only internal audit findings but also infractions on the system seen on its day-to-day operations.
In 2008,the International Standard sets a deadline for ISO9001:2000 accredited organizations to be compliant with ISO9001:2008 by December 2010. ISO9001:2008 was developed in order to introduce clarifications to the existing requirements of ISO9001:2000. It is not the standard’s intent to change or add requirements to the existing QMS but to improve compatibility with ISO 14001:2004 – Environmental Management System. In the near future, we will see the integration of the Quality & Environmental Management Systems and the ISO19001 QEMSA which is the Quality & Environmental Management Systems Auditing.
Trainings for QMS Transition
To start working for the QMS transition, the Training Director and QMR attended trainings as planned - the ISO9001:2008 Transition Training on December 5, 2009 and the Lead Auditor Training on January 18-22, 2010. The QMR trained for QMR Skills Development in February 5, 2010.
Hiring of Full-Time Document Controller
ISNTC management decided to hire a full time Document controller on January 2010. A Quality Meeting was held on February 12 to deliberate upon the revised ISNTC Organizational chart and agreed on Quality Manual Review schedule.
QMR Conducts Awareness Seminar, Quality Manual Review, and Internal Auditor Training
On March 5, the QM section conducted the ISO Awareness Seminar for teaching and non teaching employees of ISNTC & ASM. Twenty three (23) employees attended the seminar and each was issued a certificate of attendance.
The QM Section started Quality Manual Review on March 8, 2010 taking on the Procedures manual in Training Department in the morning and Research & Development in the afternoon. Reviewing processes in 2 departments/units a day after which, going over the same units to take on Job descriptions manual and Forms manual on a weekly schedule. The Quality Manual Review goes on until all document revisions/additions will be reflected in the Quality Manual.
The QMR conducted the Internal Auditor Training for ISNTC, ASM QMS core group & Raytec members on March 16 & 18 (1500h-1700H) at the South County room, Enerpro building. Twenty two (22) participants completed the course. A certificate of completion was issued to successful participants.
After these training sessions, members of this organization learned to appreciate the benefits of being employed in a workplace with an established Quality Management System. With this, we expect a smooth transition to comply with ISO9001:2008 QMS by December 2010.
