ISNTC EARNS ISO9001:2000 RENEWAL CERTIFICATION FROM GERMANISCHER LLOYD

The Intership Navigation Training Center management convened in May 2008 to announce its intention of reorganization to cope with company’s growth and major changes in the Quality Management System (QMS).

The Managing Director decided that the training center’s QMS had to go through comprehensive revision in preparation for the ISO9001:200 Renewal Audit by the end of the year. Early in June 2008 a series of organization wide assemblies were held to reconstruct the center’s organizational chart and the four (4) required quality manuals.

Completed quality manuals were sent on October 23 to Germanischer Lloyd’s lead auditor for his review and preparation of audit plan. After a week the lead auditor found ISNTC manuals were in order and no corrections to make. He sets date of renewal audit on November 6 and 7, 2008.

An organization-wide opening meeting was held before the audit proper. Though the audit went smoothly staff in the office were tensed, everyone feels the pressure when interviewed. In the closing meeting, the auditor announces audit result: Recommended for Certification(subject to closure of two minor non conformities until 06.12.2008)

Quality Management Section sends corrective actions to two (2) non compliance notes in November 28, 2008. GL auditor replies: Action initiated for non-conformities found to be effective. ISNTC earns ISO9001:2000 accreditations from GL with certificate valid from December 30, 2008 until December 29, 2011.

Almost a year has gone by since ISNTC has worked with this renewed management system. Infractions or lapses still come and we now welcome and deal with them. Quality management system nowadays is geared on “continual improvement” ISNTC personnel has now realized system improvements come from lapses. Compared to previous system which is “you have to do what is written” limits one to just follow what is written in the manual. ISO9001:2000 is known to be a user-friendly system as one can employ flexibility and opportunities to improve always come.
